VIF Ensemble

Chamber Music for your senses

Join us for a chamber music concert on Saturday, May 19th, 2:30 pm at the Unitarian Universalists Congregation of Phoenix, 4027 E Lincoln Dr, Paradise Valley, AZ 85253.

Clarinetist Erin Finkelstein is joined by violinist Karen Sinclair and cellist Melita Hunsinger from the Phoenix Symphony for an afternoon of chamber music featuring works by Haydn, Raphael, Hindemith, Connesson, Kovacs, and Dahl. This eclectic program will delight your senses and expose you to lesser known gems in the chamber music repertoire!

Formed in January 2015, the ensemble VIF was born out of a desire to explore and share the repertoire of lesser-known combination of instruments. Founded by Phoenix based clarinetist Erin Finkelstein, performers who have joined in collaborative concerts have been violinist Karen Sinclair, principal cellist Melita Hunsinger, and principal flute Viviana Wilson from the Phoenix Symphony, Dancer Rebecca Rabideau, Soprano Nina Cole Garguilo, and pianists Olga Gorelik, Thomas Nixon and Nathan Uhl. We exist to present vibrant concerts, engage your senses, and educate audiences about the art of music-making as a living breathing form of expression.

In 2015 we received a MCCCD Visiting Artist Grant to present a collaborative chamber music concert with dancer at Phoenix College and Glendale Community College. The innovative program centered around Stravinsky's L'Histoire du Soldat with choreography and dance by Rebecca Rabideau. Other performance engagements include a resident concert with the Carmel Bach Festival in October of 2016 at the  Hidden Valley Institute of the Arts in Carmel Valley, California, Orangewood Presbyterian Church Arts Alive! Series, Mountain View Presbyterian Musician Encounters Series, and in March of 2016 at the Downtown Chamber Series at the Newton in Phoenix. In 2017 we were presented on Evening of Music house concert series, and on the Musical Encounters Mountain View Presbyterian Church Series.
