Awareness. Movement. Wellness. Feldenkrais®
I am a certified Feldenkrais Instructor who is passionate about helping fellow musicians, and people of all occupations, improve their lives and abilities through mindful movement instruction.
What Is The Feldenkrais Method®?
The Feldenkrais Method of learning was founded by Israeli physicist Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais to improve our physical and mental functionality by increasing self-awareness through movement.
By non-invasive, “re-learning” of somatic connections between the body and mind, Feldenkrais students discover how to reorganize their movements and behaviors in new, more effective ways for a better quality of life.
Why I Practice Feldenkrais
I discovered the Feldenkrais Method in 2004 when I was struggling with excess tension and a jaw disorder that threatened to comprise my music performance career. Put simply, Feldenkrais helped end my pain when nothing else did.
Through my transformational Feldenkrais practice, I developed a concept I call the “Musician’s Magic Zone,” which I now teach to every musician who seeks my assistance with playing issues.
How Feldenkrais Is Practiced
The Feldenkrais Method is practiced in two forms: Awareness Through Movement® (ATM) classes and Functional Integration® (FI) instruction.
ATM Classes are verbally-directed movement lessons presented to groups. The practitioner does not engage in instruction through direct touch. I teach group classes online to veterans and new comers alike! Email for info: info@erinfinkelstein.com
FI instruction is private, one-on-one instruction of the Feldenkrais Method where the practitioner develops a customized lesson plan for the student and uses touch to help convey the experience of comfort and ease of movement. You can book online HERE.
